MHP’s Healing Hustle Race – September 19, 2026

The 6th Annual Walk/Run in support of the MHP Wound Center will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the YMCA in Shelbyville. All proceeds from this walk/run will benefit patients who are receiving wound treatment at the wound care center. The funds are used to assist patients with financial limitations with wound dressings and supplies, transportation, medications, nutritional supplements for healing, garments for swelling, and more. By having access to these funds, these patients are able to achieve healing and overall positive outcomes.

Start & Finish at the Shelby County YMCA

2120 Intelliplex Drive, Shelbyville, IN 46176

 

All proceeds support patients in need at the MHP Wound Care Center

 

Pre-registration by September 4, 2026: $25.00

– Includes t-shirt and finisher medal while supplies last.

 

Registration day of: $30.00

– Includes finisher medal while supplies last.

 

Bib pick up and waivers: 8:00 a.m.

 

Race Start: 9:00 a.m.

 

Fun Run: $10.00 registration in advance or day of.

– Includes finisher ribbon

– Starts at 10:00 a.m.

– 1/4 mile for ages 6 and under

– 1/2 mile for ages 7 – 12

– Fun Run is on pavement

 

Registered participants may shower at the YMCA. Bring your own towels.

Independence Day Information from the Shelbyville Police Department

🎆 KNOW THE LAW BEFORE YOU LIGHT THE FUSE! 🎆

As we prepare to celebrate Independence Day, the Shelbyville Police Department wants everyone to have a fun, safe, and legal holiday.

🎇 Consumer Fireworks ARE permitted in Shelbyville during the following times:

 

📅 June 29 – July 3 and July 5 – July 9

🕔 5:00 PM until two hours after sunset

 

📅 July 4 (Independence Day)

🕙 10:00 AM until 12:00 Midnight

These dates and times are established by Indiana Code and are adopted by the City of Shelbyville Ordinance (§91.125).

 

🎆 Before You Celebrate:

 

✅ Only use fireworks on your own property or on property where you have permission.

✅ Anyone purchasing consumer fireworks must be 18 years of age or older.

✅ Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby.

✅ Never allow young children to handle fireworks without close adult supervision.

✅ Be courteous to your neighbors, especially veterans, elderly residents, families with young children, and pet owners.

✅ Never use fireworks while impaired by alcohol or drugs.

 

🚓 Remember:

Using consumer fireworks outside of the permitted dates and times within the City of Shelbyville may result in enforcement action. Please celebrate responsibly and help us keep our community safe.

Fireworks Ordinance Notice – City of Shelbyville

FIREWORKS ORDINANCE NOTICE: KNOW THE RULES BEFORE YOU CELEBRATE

As the Fourth of July holiday approaches, the City of Shelbyville reminds all residents and visitors to follow local and state laws regarding the use of consumer fireworks.

Per Shelbyville City Ordinance § 91.125 and Indiana Code 22-11-14-10.5, consumer fireworks are only permitted within city limits during the following dates and times:

Permitted Fireworks Use Dates and Times:

* June 29 – July 3 and July 5 – July 9: 5:00 PM until two hours after sunset
* July 4 (Independence Day): 10:00 AM until 12:00 Midnight
* December 31 (New Year’s Eve): 10:00 AM until 1:00 AM on January 1

Fireworks used outside these designated periods violate city ordinance and may result in fines or penalties. These laws are in place to protect public safety, reduce disturbances to residents, and prevent fire hazards.

Additionally, per Ordinance § 91.126, any organized outdoor fireworks displays or pyrotechnics used before a live audience must comply with national safety standards:

* NFPA 1123 for outdoor displays
* NFPA 1126 for indoor or close-proximity effects

Organizers of public fireworks displays must coordinate with the Shelbyville Fire Department to ensure compliance and secure any necessary permits.

We encourage all residents to enjoy the holiday safely, respectfully, and within the law. Please be considerate of neighbors, children, pets, and veterans who may be affected by loud or unexpected fireworks.

Photos With Santa 4 The Pets

Welcome! We are doing something a little different this year with our favorite Santa! We are welcoming pets, kids of all ages and families!

We have been at the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter for the last several years but this year we are taking you to a special place for aspecial dog
who needs hip surgery.

Meet Bear Riley, who was running the golf course and surrounding neighborhoods for 3 months! We have shared his story about his rescue in the event and we will be posting some photos and videos too. We are accepting
donations on his behalf this year and they will be given to the vet who will be doing his surgery in December.

We hope you can join us at 2405 Trotters Chase which is a lovely clubhouse in one of the neighborhoods where he was seen running.

Options for photos:

Suggested Donations are $10 for pictures with Santa, $25 for a mini session (additional pictures with or without Santa, with the tree and fireplace
setting).
